MISSION STATEMENT
Essenia Sustainable Holistic Health eco village's mandate is to contribute in the revitalization of public health and in the "short supply" (local) meeting of our basic needs and dignity.
WE ARE LOOKING FOR PARTNERSHIPS AND MOUNTAIN LAND TO BUILD A SECOND ECO-VILLAGE SETTLEMENT.
In this perspective, we are planning on a small structure with off the grid accomodations for a dozen of visitors the first year. The setting needs to be in a healing mountainous area, in the midst of forest land....The healing techniques will consist in a live plant based diet (mostly organic raw superfoods), sun therapy, breathing and other health exercises, meditation, hyperthermia, far infra red saunas (heat therapy also possible via hot springs), oxygen and electro (mild) therapies, energy fields medicine.
AXIS ONE: THE BUILDING OF HEALTH-CONDUCIVE, AFFORDABLE & EFFICIENT EC0-DWELLINGS WITH LOW CARBON IMPACT

DIFFERENT BIO-MATERIAL ECO HOUSES (STRAWBALE, CLAY, STONE, COB, CORDWOOD, LIMESTONE, LOGS, BAMBOU, ETC)

The vision is to build a healing "permaculture" like development of small eco-dwellings. The dwellings will merge with the natural environment that surrounds them. Some with be built in the midst and with live trees. They will be highly innovative and earthy, using the latest environmental technologies combined with local natural materials. The dwellings will be unique, having been essentially created by the people living in them. The site will become a successful demonstration of low impact building, simple healing and living. Each household will have access to enough farm land to be self sufficient.
The buildings will blend into the landscape, most of
them could be covered with elements of the landscape (for example, turf roofs, cob walls, timber
cladding with bambou gutters). Dry toilets and grey water filtration could be envisaged, depending on the county's code.

AXIS TWO: PREPARING THE LAND FOR MEDICINAL PLANTS AND BOTANICALS AND FOOD VIA PERMACULTURE AND ORGANIC AGRICULTURE.
With enough land to meet the eco-villagers' household needs, the settlement will, by the nature of its layout and legal structures, encourage a more sustainable and healing approach to living. It will foster strong connections with the local and wider
community while having its own unique identity. The settlement will produce a wide range of land based products, from crafts to organic greens, to botanicals and small fruits, in particular strawberries, blueberries and mulberries.
Permaculture has played an important role in the design of the settlement. It has been
integrated into the management plan for the project and will continue to influence how the
project is run. On the ground great care will be taken to create wildlife corridors, encourage
biodiversity and soil health, conserve water and move toward a system in which human beings
are a complementary part of the natural landscape.
AXIS THREE.
STRUCTURING SELF SUFFICIENCY VIA ALTERNATIVE ENERGIES IN THE FOLLOWING ENERGY FIELDS.
1. Solar photovoltaic panels and passive solar energies.
2. Wind turbine generators.
3 A small hydro turbine on the property's creek and or river..
4. Bio-gas.
5. Pedal generating energy.
AXIS FOUR.
EDUCATION AND HEALING INFRASTRUCTURE
GREETING THE PUBLIC TO EDUCATE THEM IN HOLISTIC HEALTH VIA THREE WEEK RETREATS (HALF OF THE HEALING CHALLENGE IS "COMPLIANCE". HENCE, THE IMPORTANCE OF A ONE TO THREE WEEKS STAY).
WORKSHOPS SPECIALTIES.
WORKSHOPS IN CHRONIC DISEASES IN GENERAL AND CANCER IN PARTICULAR. WE WILL BE FOCUSING ON THE DURABLE AND NATURAL HEALING EDUCATION OF CANCER GIVEN THIS DISEASE'S EPIDEMIC PROPORTIONS AND THE DIFFICULTY FOR THE MAINSTREAM TO RE-ADAPT TO REASON AND SCIENCE.
“For the first time, cancer has surpassed heart disease as the top killer of Americans under 85…” (American Cancer Society’s annual report released in January 2005).
WORKSHOPS IN LONGEVITY MEDICINE.
WORKSHOPS ON THE LEGAL PROTECTION OF HOLISTIC MEDICINE.
Human rights and duties workshops may also be envisioned, as well as building a Statue of Civic Responsibility. See link.
Other activities can be envisaged, from house construction to crafts like willow basketing and art. Once we find the land, we will conduct various market research surveys to
ascertain existing patterns of economic activity.
AXIS FIVE.
SOCIAL USEFULNESS
DRAFTING A REPORT ON THE RESULTS IN THE MEETING OF OUR BASIC NEEDS BOTH IN TERMS OF THE HEALING EFFECTS FOR VISITORS AND THE SUSTAINABILITY OF THOSE WHO WILL HAVE CHOSEN TO LIVE ON THE SETTLEMENT AND HELP BUILD THIS PROJECT.
The project is intended to serve as a blueprint for future low impact
development and holistic health healing.
Essenia aims to demonstrate the viability of low impact development as a settlement model, one that has the potential to rejuvenate and heal. Both humans, animals and Community. Thus we propose an exemplary project that
will act as a milestone and a reference point for sustainable development possibilities. In this perspective, we are basing this plan on five social criteria.
1. Make an active and measurable contribution to the local community via education, healing and food production (and other livelihood sustainability resources).
2. Satisfy certain ecological criteria, including but not limited to sustainability.
3. Have a well considered management plan and business plan in place.
Outline of Action Plan
The project will take place in three stages. The first stage involves creating a few eco dwellings and preparing the site for sustainability and workshop facilities.
Once this first stage is established and has demonstrated viability, a second stage of development
will be explored. Sustainability activity, workshops, retreats.
Third, if the first two stages are successful, we may export the model to a developing Nation, such as Guatemela, Costa Rica or Panama.
Key Objectives for the Settlement
1. The settlement will demonstrate best practice in sustainability and have a small ecological
impact.
2. The natural wealth and biodiversity of the land will be enhanced.
3. The settlement will become integrated into the local community and will be an asset to the
local economy.
4. The settlement will offer the opportunity of affordable housing.
6. The settlement will welcome visitors, in particular those who have been enfeebled by stress.
7. The settlement will support land based sustainable livelihoods and be a net producer of
land based products.
8. The settlement will conduct and publish research about the development.
TENTATIVE CONCLUSION.
“A low impact development is one that, through its low negative environmental impact, either enhances or does not significantly diminish environmental quality.”
Simon Fairlie
The settlement will be based upon the conventional village model, (as Barack Obama’s father "small" traditional village) while allowing for a governing body that will ensure the low impact objectives of the project can be guaranteed in the long term. Most likely via a "consensus" procedure.
To live a low impact lifestyle is to establish a balance between resource consumption and production. In essence, this means to intelligently manage our surrounding environment in order to maximise return (in the forms of energy, water, food, shelter and products) and minimise waste (through recycling, composting and energy efficient systems, grey water filtration, dry toilets etc). In practice, this means to adopt a landbased, simple, localised lifestyle that works with the land and natural cycles available to us. In order to explore low impact
living, it is necessary to create an integrated system of dwellings and infrastructure able to support such a venture.
In association to this groundwork, we will organize workshops and build a natural setting to ensure visitors the best ever healing experience.
The income generating from this and other services sustainable should be enough to meet basic needs and to grow without the stress of deprivation.
